What are Unconscious biases?

Bias is a cognitive process in which people have some tendency to favor one idea or object over another, even though the two are not directly related. Unconscious bias is the unconscious tendency of people to favor one group of individuals over another. This bias is not deliberate or conscious, but it does exist.

When we say “unconscious bias”, we mean the biases that we do not even know that we have. It happens when people are not aware of the reasons why they are biased.

This is the tendency to favor people who share your own characteristics. For example, if you have a physical disability, you might be biased in favor of other people with physical disabilities.
